Dear Parents:

My name is Miss Beth Maloy and I will be your child’s second grade teacher this school year.  First of all I would like to welcome you to a brand new and exciting school year at Woodland Park Academy.  I would also like to take this opportunity to share with you a few things about myself, both personally and professionally.

I have been a teacher at Woodland Park Academy for ten years.  I graduated from the University of Michigan in Flint in 1998, where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  I also received three minors in Social Studies, Language Arts, and Early Childhood Development.  Spring 2004 I graduated with my Master’s degree in teaching from Marygrove College.  I grew up in Clio, Michigan.  I currently reside in Grand Blanc, Michigan.  In my spare time I enjoy traveling, exercising, and spending time with my friends and family.  I have two older sisters, three nieces and four nephews.  In November 2007 I became a great aunt!  My nieces and nephews ages range from 1 month to 24 years old.

My goal as a teacher is to build your child’s self-confidence, show them how to set goals for themselves, and help them to gain a passion and need for knowledge.  I will create a relaxed and safe learning environment that will allow your child to function to their fullest potential and enjoy learning.

My teaching philosophy is that every child has greatness and the ability to learn within himself or herself.  It is my job as a teacher to pull that greatness from within and show them what it means to work to their fullest potential.  I look forward to a fun and productive school year.

Sincerely,

Miss Beth Maloy
