Welcome to Mrs. Thompson's 7th Grade Scholars
About Mrs. Thompson:

Welcome to 7th grade! I am very excited for this school year. This year will be my 5th year teaching and 2nd year at Woodland Park Academy. Prior to teaching at W.P.A, I taught in Phoenix, Arizona for 3 years. This year will be a little different then the past because I will not be starting the year until November because I will be spending my time with my son :)

Brody William Thompson was born August 12, 2011, weighing in at 8lbs 15ozs, 21.5 inches long. He is our first child and my husband and I adore him . While I am out, you will have a fantastic substitute, Mrs. Forys. She is a wonderful addition to Woodland Park Academy and I am very glad that you will have the opportunity to learn from her.

Mrs. Thompson's Education:

B.S in intergraded science from Central Michigan University 2007
B.A Elementary Education from Rio Salado College ( Arizona) 2009

About your Substitute:
Hello!  My name is Michelle Forys and I will be the long-term substitute teacher for Mrs. Thompson’s 7th grade scholars.  I am thrilled to be a part of the WPA learning community and I look forward to getting to know the students, staff and parents.

I have taught for 5 years teaching Math and Science in a Montessori School in Waterford, MI, I have substitute taught for two years and worked in long-term teaching assignments.  My most recent experience has been working as a Title I Intervention Teacher in Detroit.

I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University in December 2000.  I hold a Michigan Professional Teaching Certificate with endorsements in Science and Early Childhood Education.  I went on to receive a Master’s of Arts in Teaching Reading and Language Arts from Oakland University in December 2009.

I currently live in Rochester with my husband Ryan.  We have been married for 3 ½ years.  We enjoy mountain biking, going on long walks, spending time with family and friends, and traveling throughout Michigan.  Our favorite summer vacation spot is Mackinac Island.
